What's the Best Diabetes Food Guide?
Looking for the best diabetes food guide? How about a diet that could reverse diabetes? Many legitimate, peer-reviewed, scientific studies are pointing to a strong correlation between eating a raw, plant-based diet and being able to reverse diabetes or significantly reduce its severity.
If you're new to the idea of raw food, you're probably thinking, "Eew! I'd have to spend my life eating celery!" - Not so! Raw food cuisine has become a high art form. With the right equipment, raw foodists can create a huge array of fabulous recipes!
There are many great reasons to follow a raw, plant-based diabetes food guide. Evidence continues to mount suggesting that excessive consumption of animal proteins (otherwise known as the S.A.D. - Standard American Diet) is directly related to diseases like diabetes, heart disease and even cancer!
It seems our pre-occupation with getting enough protein is quite badly misdirected. What we actually need are amino acids - the building blocks of protein - and these are found in exactly the right form in raw, plant-based foods.
Raw plant foods are living foods and have all their enzymes and nutrients intact. When foods are cooked, the enzymes are killed, which means that our bodies have to do extra work trying to extract what they need from the food. That extra work ages us and can cause our bodies to break down.
But when we consume whole, living plant foods, we are giving our bodies exactly what they need in exactly the right form. Eating this way allows the body to stop working so hard and begin to restore its own natural balance.
More and more people afflicted with diabetes are taking the 30 Days Raw challenge, using a raw diabetes food guide, and finding that they can in fact reverse their diabetes!
Raw Diabetes Food Guide
| Leafy Greens | Not just for salads! Greens are great in smoothies, soups, and dehydrated recipes (like kale chips!) |
| Vegetables | Eat these as raw munchies, in salads, soups and even in raw breads! |
| Fruits | For diabetes, you'll want to go easy on fruits, but once you're really underway, fruits are a great source of vitamins and fiber. |
| Sprouts | Powerhouses of protein, minerals, and vitamins, sprouts are the ultimate in living foods! Did you know that you get more calcium from alfalfa sprouts than from milk? |
| Sea Vegetables | Okay, this sounds kind of gross, I admit. But actually sea vegetables like dulse, nori, and kelp, are really yummy! They are packed with minerals and iodine, which is good for thyroid. Sprinkle dulse flakes on a salad, or blend it with a soup for a richer flavor. Raw nori is delicious with raw California rolls! |
| Fats | Fats are necessary for great health - they keep the body "lubricated", so eat up your avocados, coconut oil and olives! |
| Nuts and Seeds | Delicious on their own as a snack, raw nuts and seeds are often used as a base for sensational raw desserts and yummy milk alternatives. |
| Superfoods | The first on the list is chocolate! Superfoods are foods that not only contain tons of nutritional goodness, they also contain healing elements. On the list are blueberries, hemp, kale, pumpkin seeds, parsley, garlic and walnuts. |
